VisionWeb ConnectSM Program Enables Connectivity for All Optical Laboratories
Austin, TX – September 15, 2005 – VisionWeb, a leading provider of technology services to the optical industry, unveiled a new program today that will allow any optical laboratory to connect to the VisionWeb Essential system to receive Rx lens orders. The VisionWeb ConnectSM program will enable rapid expansion of VisionWeb’s supplier network, providing streamlined order processing for both eyecare providers and their laboratories.
With VisionWeb Connect, labs can enjoy the benefits of being a part of the VisionWeb supplier network, regardless of the lab management software (LMS) system running their lab operations. Three levels of integration will be offered, with each lab choosing the connection type that best suits their needs:
- Complete-Connect. At this level, VisionWeb fully integrates with the lab’s LMS, enabling eyecare practices to place accurate, error-checked, electronic orders using the lab’s own customized catalog – and have their orders submitted directly into the lab’s production system.
- Custom-Connect. Labs choosing this level will enable customers to place error-checked, electronic orders using the lab’s own customized catalog, and submitted to the lab’s order desk.
- Express-Connect. Customers of Express-Connect labs can place electronic orders, with standard error-checking, through VisionWeb using a standard catalog of lens products. And because Express-Connect requires very little custom configuration, labs can be up and running in a very short amount of time.

Since 2002, eyecare practices have been communicating with their optical laboratories and other suppliers through VisionWeb Essential, a service that allows seamless order transmission between the practice and supplier. By creating additional levels of connectivity, VisionWeb is allowing labs at all levels of technical capability the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of VisionWeb. The result is the potential to connect virtually any lab to its customers over the Web, simply by joining VisionWeb through the VisionWeb Connect program.
